What it covers
The ten sections of the 2023 NSAA and ENGAA with official grading tables: NSAA Section 1 (Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and Section 2 (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), and ENGAA Section 1 (Maths and Physics; Advanced Maths and Physics) and Section 2 (Physics). Raw marks 0 to 20.

Method
- Cambridge Assessment released its 2023 grading tables under Freedom of Information. They give the scaled score for every raw mark from 0 to 20 in each section.
- Pick the section and enter your mark: the answer is the printed score, with no calculation.
- No other year's tables are in this release, so no other year is converted. Using the 2023 table for a 2019 paper would give a wrong answer.
Uncertainty and limits
- The answer is exact for the 2023 paper. Scaled scores from 2023 describe that year's candidates, who were a different group from ESAT candidates.

What the answer means
The scaled score Cambridge's 2023 table gives that mark on that section. It is not an ESAT score: the ESAT has 27 questions per module and its own scale. For an ESAT-style estimate, use the score converter.

Questions people ask
Can I convert NSAA or ENGAA papers from other years?
Not exactly. Only the 2023 tables have been released, and each year's table differs, so this tool does not guess other years.
Is an NSAA or ENGAA score the same as an ESAT score?
No. Both use a 1.0 to 9.0 style scale, but the tests, their length and their candidates differ, so the same number does not mean the same thing.
Are NSAA and ENGAA papers good ESAT practice?
They were the tests the ESAT replaced from 2024, so much of the content overlaps, but the question count and timing differ. The score converter uses these 2023 tables as one of its two methods for ESAT marks.
