How the range is worked out
- Each question has a difficulty level from our question bank. Difficulty levels are set by our question writers.
- In each module we find the ability that best explains how many you got right, allowing for how hard those questions were.
- We turn that into a place among the 2026-entry candidates and read the score at that place off the percentiles in UAT-UK's ESAT technical report.
- Each module is scored on its own, as on the real ESAT. With five questions the range is wide, and a full 40-minute module narrows it.
Questions
Is this an official ESAT paper?
No. The questions are our own, written to the ESAT specification and timing, and each one was solved independently by two solvers. UAT-UK publishes the official practice materials.
Which modules should I sit?
Everyone sits Mathematics 1. Your course decides the other two: engineering usually needs Mathematics 2 and Physics; natural sciences lets you choose. Check the module finder before you start.
How long does it take?
Seven and a half minutes a module, the real ESAT's time per question. Three modules take about 22 minutes.
Do I need an account?
No. Your marks and your likely score in each module show straight away. A free account adds the topics to fix first, a two-week plan and every answer worked through, and keeps them.
What is a good ESAT score?
In Mathematics 1 the middle 2026-entry candidate scored 4.4, the top quarter 5.3 or more and the top tenth 6.7 or more.
