How we work this out
What it does
An estimate of the module average Oxford's interview shortlist reaches, course by course, and where your scores sit.
Oxford's four ESAT courses for 2027 entry: Engineering Science, Physics, Physics and Philosophy and Biomedical Sciences. 2027 is the first year Oxford uses the ESAT.
Method
- Oxford prints the share of applicants it interviews for each course (3-year average). We take that share as the size of the shortlist.
- We apply it to the closest applicant pool with published ESAT scores: Cambridge's 2025 applicants (3,179 Engineering, 829 Physical Natural Sciences who sat Maths 1, Maths 2 and Physics, 1,130 Biological Natural Sciences).
- The line is the lowest module average inside the top share of that pool. Your position is the share of the pool scoring below your average.
