What it covers
ESAT for 2027 entry: the October 2026 sitting (12 to 16 October, results 16 November 2026) and the January 2027 sitting (4 to 8 January, results 8 February 2027). Applications to Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial and UCL, the four universities UAT-UK lists as using the ESAT.

Method
- Every date and rule is copied from UAT-UK's key dates and test results pages, Imperial's ESAT page and Cambridge's interviews page, read on 27 September 2026. Nothing is estimated.
- January eligibility follows UAT-UK's rule that you can sit once per admissions cycle, and its rule that most Cambridge and Oxford applicants must sit in October. Mature applicants to a Cambridge mature college and Oxford Foundation Year applicants with January deadlines are the published exceptions.
- If you add a score, it is placed among October 2025 candidates, the latest October sitting UAT-UK has published, by drawing a straight line between the report's printed 25th, 50th, 75th and 90th percentile scores (Technical Report, Table 5).
- October is the right comparison because UAT-UK fixes each October's median at 4.5 and its 90th percentile at 7.0. The same score should therefore sit at a similar rank from one October to the next, though not exactly.
Uncertainty and limits
- UAT-UK publishes a results day but no release time, so we show none.
- The October 2026 percentiles are not published until UAT-UK's next technical report. Last October's rank is a guide, and the straight-line method was off by 5.5 percentile points on average when tested on held-back published points.
- UAT-UK's test results page gives the 90th percentile as 7.0 in one section and 9.0 in another. We use 7.0, which matches its technical report tables.
- Universities set their own interview and decision dates. We show Cambridge's published dates; for Oxford, Imperial and UCL, check your course page.

What the answer means
The answer tells you when you will see your scores, what happens to them, and whether a January sitting can count for your application. With a score, it adds roughly what share of last October's candidates in that module scored lower. It is not a pass mark, a cut-off or a chance of an offer, and it cannot tell you what a university will decide. UAT-UK does not accept appeals of scores.
Questions people ask
What time do ESAT results come out?
UAT-UK gives the day, not a time: October 2026 candidates get their results in their UAT-UK account on Monday 16 November 2026, and January 2027 candidates on 8 February 2027. UAT-UK says it will notify you when they are available.
Do I need to send my ESAT score to my universities?
No. UAT-UK sends results automatically to the participating institutions in your UCAS application, shortly after your test date, matching them on your UCAS Personal ID and booking details. Your universities can have your score before you see it.
Can I resit the ESAT in January if my October score is low?
No, not in the same cycle. UAT-UK says you can only sit once within an admissions cycle, and Imperial says only your first test score will be considered.
Can I still sit the ESAT in January 2027?
If you have not sat it this cycle and your application accepts January: booking opens 26 October 2026 at 3pm UK time and closes 21 December 2026 at 6pm, for testing on 4 to 8 January 2027. Most Cambridge and Oxford applicants must sit in October; Imperial and UCL applicants can choose.
What is a good ESAT score?
UAT-UK publishes no pass mark or grade boundaries. Each October's median is fixed at 4.5 and its 90th percentile at 7.0. Add your score above to see where it sat among last October's candidates in the same module.
Can I appeal my ESAT score?
No. UAT-UK says its scoring is quality assured at every stage and it does not accept appeals of test scores.
When do Cambridge interviews happen?
Cambridge's main interview period for 2027 entry is 7 to 18 December 2026. Most invitations go out in November, some in early December, and October applicants hear the outcome in January.
