Questions people ask

Are there real ESAT past papers?

No. UAT-UK has not released any real ESAT paper. It publishes one specimen and one practice test per module on Pearson, and links the 2016 to 2023 ENGAA and NSAA papers as practice.

Are ENGAA and NSAA papers still useful for the ESAT?

Yes. UAT-UK says they contain questions of the type found in the ESAT and marks the ones outside the specification. Use them for topic practice and save the Pearson practice test for a final timed run.

Do the papers have answers?

Every ENGAA and NSAA paper has an official answer key. The Pearson specimen tests explain each answer. None of them gives a score.

How long should each question take?

The ESAT gives 27 questions in 40 minutes per module, about 89 seconds each. Time old papers at that pace.

How we work this out

What it does

Start with the official ESAT specimen and practice tests. ENGAA and NSAA papers help with selected topics, so check them against the current ESAT specification. Our timed module papers are original practice, not papers from a real ESAT sitting.

Official ESAT material only: UAT-UK's specimen and practice tests on Pearson, its content guides, and the ENGAA and NSAA Section 1 papers from 2016 to 2023 that UAT-UK links for the ESAT.

Method

  1. We read UAT-UK's ESAT preparation page and Pearson's UAT-UK page on 4 October 2026 and opened every file link.
  2. Every ENGAA and NSAA question is placed in one ESAT module and topic (the same map as our free past-paper practice). A paper's count is its questions in your module.
  3. Questions UAT-UK crosses out as outside the ESAT specification are left out. A question printed in both ENGAA and NSAA in the same year counts once in the total.
