Imperial Design Engineering ESAT: modules and published score evidence

Two modules only: Mathematics 1 and Mathematics 2. There is no published cutoff. Below are the only official score figures, Imperial’s 2025-entry means by outcome, with the population and cycle for each.

In every group, interviewed applicants without an offer averaged at least as much as those with one. Imperial says the ESAT is one part of both the interview and the offer decision. It does not publish how many applicants sit behind each percentage, so small groups can swing widely.

Which ESAT modules does Imperial Design Engineering need?

Mathematics 1 and Mathematics 2 only. The UAT-UK course list marks it "two modules only". It does not say whether booking a third module for another course on your list affects a Design Engineering application, so confirm with Imperial or UAT-UK before you book.

What is the typical ESAT score for Imperial Design Engineering?

Imperial's 2025-entry dashboard gives a mean ESAT total (Mathematics 1 plus Mathematics 2) of 8.9 for applicants who received an offer, 11.4 for those interviewed without an offer and 7.3 for those not interviewed. These are means for one past cycle, not a cutoff.

Does Imperial Design Engineering have an ESAT cutoff?

Imperial publishes no cutoff. It says scores are one part of the application, a high score does not guarantee an offer and a low score does not mean rejection, and that its historic data should not be taken as a requirement for future cycles.

Can I sit the ESAT in January for Imperial?

Yes, for Imperial. If your list also has a Cambridge or Oxford course, most applicants to those must sit in October; UAT-UK's exceptions are Cambridge mature-college applicants with a January admissions deadline and Oxford Astrophoria Foundation Year applicants, who may sit in January. You can sit only once per cycle, and Imperial says only your first test score will be considered.
