Why Mathematics 2 needs its own plan

The official Mathematics 2 material covers algebra and functions, sequences and series, coordinate geometry, trigonometry, exponentials and logarithms, differentiation, integration, and graphs of functions. The technical report gives the size of the problem. Maths 2 had 10,040 candidates in the reported cohort. Its median scaled score was 4.5 and its 90th percentile was 6.8 in the module table. The high-yield Mathematics 2 map

The sampled evidence covers about 48 classified Mathematics 2 questions from ENGAA 2019 to 2023 Part B. It gives a practice order, not a prediction of the next form. Start with the topics that occur most often, then use the less frequent areas to close gaps. UAT-UK ESAT preparation materials

Sequences, coordinate geometry and advanced algebra make up half of this sample. Graphs still appear in the exam as a medium for another question, but graph transformations as the main subject were rare in the sampled papers. The topics that recur across the corpus

Logarithms, trigonometry and differentiation appeared in all five sampled papers. Integration appeared in four of five. What TMUA Paper 1 can transfer

The UAT-UK Mathematics notes are a legitimate extra source because they were written for TMUA Paper 1 and ESAT Mathematics 2. They say that both assessments expect candidates to use the same level of mathematical knowledge on problems they are unlikely to have seen before. Do not call a TMUA paper an ESAT mock. The ESAT contract is 27 questions in a separately timed 40-minute module, without a calculator. A TMUA result can tell you that a mathematical method needs work, but it cannot supply an ESAT scaled score or reproduce an ESAT module. Finish with an ESAT-specific block under the ESAT clock. The Mathematics 2 question route

Give every question an opening move. A full school-method solution is often too slow for the first pass.

1. Write what the question asks for. It may want a term, a root, a coordinate, an area or a maximum.
2. Keep the structure visible. Factor before expanding, use the given relation before substituting, and preserve exact surds until the options make the comparison clear.
3. Use the options as a check. Exact near-neighbour answers can expose a dropped factor or a missed sign, but an option is not a proof.
4. Set an abandon point. If the first route has not appeared, mark the item, take the accessible marks elsewhere, and return with a full clock check.

Use the 88.9-second average as a warning light. Some questions deserve longer because the route is visible. Others should be left for the second pass before they consume the time needed by four accessible items. The hard-question endgame

ESAT marking gives one mark for each correct answer and does not deduct marks for an incorrect answer. Candidates can move within a module, and time does not transfer to the next module. Do not leave a hard item blank because it felt unlike a school exercise. Give it a first route, mark it if the route stalls, then return. A reasoned guess at the end has a chance of earning the mark. Record the exact paper and section, the current-specification decision, the eligible questions reached, the number correct, the time used and the cause of each error. Keep Keep, Adapt and Skip visible beside old-paper questions. A high percentage from a small retained set is not the same record as a full block with several unseen items.
